Leroy McKahan dies in Freehold paddock

C. Leroy McKahan of Jackson New Jersey died in the paddock at Freehold Raceway on Saturday May 9. He was 58. Born and raised in Washington PA, Leroy worked in the standardbred industry for more than 35 years working as a groom at Freehold Raceway and at the Nancy Patton Stables in Jackson.

The visitation and funeral arrangements have been finalized for Leroy McKahan. The 58-year-old resident of Jackson, New Jersey passed away Saturday, May 9 .

The native of Washington, Pennsylvania worked in the industry for over 35 years as a groom at Freehold Raceway and with Nancy Patton Stables.

Leroy is predeceased by parents Clarence McKahan and Betty Wadsworth and brother Robert. He is survived by his two sisters, Judy McKahan and Mary Lapointe, and many others members of his extended family.

Family will be receiving friends Wednesday, May 13 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, Debow Chapel, 150 West Veteran's Highway, Jackson, New Jersey.

Committal will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Standardbred Retirement Foundation, 108 F Old York Road, Hamilton, New Jersey, 08620.
