The Lexington Selected Yearling Sale continued on Thursday, Oct. 4 with its third session, sending 154 colts and fillies through the sales ring.

The total sales of $4,005,000 resulted in an average price of $26,006. Although this represented a dip of more than 10 percent from the average for the comparable session a year ago, the average price for the sale to date is still running nearly three percent above the amount through three sessions in 2011.

The highest-priced yearling for the session was Rebellious, a Somebeachsomewhere colt out of the Artsplace mare Pan Hanover, a winner of more than $200,000. Midland Acres, Inc consigned the colt for owners Dr. Kenneth and Jana Rucker. The Lindy Racing Stable bid $100,000 for the strapping colt, the only six-figure sale during the session.

Although a pacer garnered the top spot, the next five highest-selling youngsters were trotters, four of them colts. The runner-up position went to Back N The Slammer, by Jailhouse Jesse. This Indiana-eligible colt is out of Habit, the dam of the millionaire Civil Action and four other $100,000 winners. Owner Steve Jones raised the colt at his Cameo Hills Farm. Brixton Medical AB cast the winning bid of $90,000.
