Here at Harnesslink we get a lot of material sent to us by people in the industry, a lot of which never sees the light of day but ever now and again we get something really worthy of publication.
The following is the latest newsletter from Lincoln Farms and we thought it deserved a wider audience so we hope you enjoy it.
Lincoln Farms Newsletter
Well summer is supposed to be around the corner, and with Cup week not too far away, racing for Lincoln Farms Standard Bred horses starts to heat up hopefully along with the weather.
It has been a relatively warm spring so the new farm at Pukekohe continues to get excellent growth in the paddocks for our stock, where there is plenty of new lush grass.
Ray Green and his team are well into their build-up to get a few of the new 2 year old horses ready for the Young Gun’s Series, while preparing the older horses for major assignments over the summer months.
Our war horse Besotted has been kept in the North where he will be aimed at the Auckland Cup, instead of travelling south to the NZ Cup meeting, which came upon him a little early in his preparation.
He has had a short break since his first preparation but is due back and should be seen at the work outs within the next three weeks.
To give you an idea of where our racing stock is at present, below is a brief report on some of Lincoln Farms race horses.

Angus Fogg
Has been back in work with Derek Balle for 6 weeks, he has come back stronger and over a few feet issues that slowed him down in the past, he is 2 weeks away from the workouts.
Lincoln’s Megastar
Sadly, Megastar has been sent to the breeding paddock, where she will spend the rest of her days.
Her legs never responded to treatment ruling out any chance of making it back on the race track. Being a full sister to Sir Lincoln her foals will surely draw attention in the sales ring.

All of our new group of 2 year olds are in their initial stages of work, where they are taught the routine of a race training session, track work, short break in the paddock then taken to the stables for inspection, boxed and fed.
