Former European Grand Circuit champion Lisa America is set to go under the hammer in Sweden Saturday as part of the Kolgjini Sales which is held in conjunction with Derby weekend
The Italy-born star mare who raced for prominent American owner Lou Guida, finished a highly successful racing career after pulling up lame after 2012 Prix d'Amerique in winter.
She was bought as a broodmare by an ownership group consisting of Lutfi Kolgjini, Antonio Carraretto (Kronos), Anders Ström (Courant) and Snogarps Farm (Wihlborg).
But the ownership structure will now cease and the daughter of champion Italian racehorse and sire , is to be offered today with a filly by Joke Face included in the "package".
Coincidentally, Joke Face, who won the Swedish TravDerby in 2010, and who won 20 of 40 starts was retired this week by Kolgjini and will take up residence at Kolgjini/Svensson’s farm in Vomb. He also won the including the European Championship for 5YOs and nearly 7.2 million SEK.
