Zark would continue to provide honest fractions throughout the mile as he led past the half in :55.4. Brother John () was , but began to fade as Littlebitaclass angled to the outside to march past that rival and was able to slide into the pocket behind Zark past three-quarters in a quick 1:23.3.
Turning for home, the tempo-setter began to fade as Littlebitaclass took over command, but KG Dragonator (Phil Hudon) was using his patented closing kick as he was eating up racetrack from the back field.
Littlebitaclass continued to lead in deep stretch and fended off a late challenge from KG Dragonator to score the narrow win in 1:54.3. Ontario Success (), who captured both preliminary legs, came from well off-the-pace and settled for third.
