If races are won when the mobile gates are folded back, then the Grant Dixon stable are the masters as one of the biggest harness racing upsets of Inter Dominion heats night unfolded at Albion Park tonight.

Majestic Major, from the Dixon stable, burned out of the gate and crossed odds-on favourite Avonnova at the start and that forced the unhoppled hero to race without cover for the entire journey as there was no lead there for him.

Turning for home, though Avonnova showed his true colours and moved up to find the lead and went within a hairs breadth of taking the race.

Then Dixons 'other' stable hope, Majestic Mach, a son of Mach Three who had strung together a mighty sequencer of wins for Kevin and Kay Seymour a couple of seasons ago, ignited and flashed down the outside to grab victory in the shadows of the post.

With only one Inter Dominion Grand Final berth up for grabs, connections of Avonnova will be hoping to secure a wildcard entry into the big race. Many would say he earned it.

Still the night belonged to Majestic Mach, with Avonnova finishing second and Bettor Draw third in a quick 1:54.8 in a race where there was no place for the faint-hearted.

Second favourite Forever Gold raced in a one-one trail but couldn't finish the race off and wilted to run fourth.
