Balmoral Park reinsman and Beecher, Illinois resident Andy Miller is headed to Italy to represent the United States in the 2005 World Driving Championships.

The 36-Year-Old Miller will be facing nine other standardbred drivers from Canada, Sweden, Australia, Austria, Finland, Germany, Italy, New Zealand and Spain in the 20-race competition which gets underway in Naples, Italy on Saturday, June 18.

The action continues on June 19 in Pescara before moving to Rome on June 21.

From there it’s back to Naples on June 22 before concluding again in Rome on June 24.

Since inception back in 1970, this prestigious championship has been captured by U.S. drivers three times.

Local star Dave Magee defended his “home turf” while taking the championship here on U.S. soil back 1995 while Ron Pierce (1989) and Joe Marsh Junior (1974) have also taken home titles abroad.
