Harness racing kicked off for the new season at Alexandra Park tonight (August 1st) and one of the highlights of the first race meeting of the new season was the performance of the Mach Three mare, Pricillas Girl.

Trained by "Bunty" Hughes, Pricillas Girl has raced against the best fillies of her year at both two and three with her best performance a fine third as a 2 year old to Venus Serena in the $156,400 Sires Stakes Final for fillies in 1:56.1

Sent straight to the front by driver Zac Butcher from barrier four tonight, Pricillas Girl was pressured for the lead for the first 600 meters by Tangos Delight but Zac wanted to stayed in front and fought off the challenge.

Rating her to perfection,Zac Butcher let the brakes off Pricillas Girl  at the top of the straight where she sprinted away for an effortless win with Zac hardly moving in the bike.

It was a highly impressive win for the daughter of Mach Three and bodes well for Pricillas Girl 4 year old season.

She paced the 2200 meters mobile in 2:41.8, a mile rate of 1:58.3 with closing sectionals of 57.1 and 28.2 and looked to do it with a fair bit in reserve.

Pricillas Girl is the third foal from Pricilla Bromac and her third winner with the other two being Callaway Bromac 1:56.5 ($58,755) and Cillas Boy 1:55 ($43,781).

Pricilla Bromac is a half sister to the dam of Machtavish 1:52.9 ($204,861) while the grand-dam is a half sister to the brilliant Abdias 1:55 ($260,771)

It is the family most closely associated with the Butcher family of Cambridge and has left many top horses over the last fifty years.

The manner of her win tonight would suggest that Pricillas Girl has a lot more wins in store.
