The feature race at the Invercargill Harness Racing  Club's meeting today was the Bluff Cup for three win and faster pacers. What it lacked in numbers was offset by the quality of the pacers in the small  field.

The field quickly settled into indian file in the damp conditions with Mckenzie Jacob leading them along at a good clip and everyone else content to bide their time. Passing the 900 meter mark, Run Fatboy Run went up to eyeball the leader with the Dexter Dunn driven Belkmyster straight on to his back in the one by one aand Vi Et Animo hard on his back in the running line.

That was the way it stayed until they straightened for home where Run Fatboy Run surged to the lead only to be quickly claimed by Belkmyster who went on to a comfortable victory. Run Fatboy Run held on for second with Vi Et Animo , who looked a big danger until he galloped halfway up the straight , getting going again and holding third.

For the Mach Three four year old Belkmyster, it was his sixth win in his last twelve starts and his ninth win overall for the Met Seven Syndicate.

He covered the 2700 meters from a stand in 3:23, a mile rate of 2:1 with closing sectionals of 58:9 and 28:6 which was a good effort in the damp conditions. In his present form todays win won't be the last for the Graeme Anderson trained Belkmyster in his current campaign.
