Majestic Fire (Dan Daley) wins the $7,000 featured harness racing trot at Vernon Downs on Friday (July 12).
Waiting On A Woman (John MacDonald) led to the first quarter in :27.4. First Call (Homer Hochstetler) controlled the way going to the half in :57.2. Waiting ON A Woman came flying by and took a four and a half lengths lead and hit the three-quarter mark first in 1:25.0. He started to tire making the turn for home. First Call then took back over control at the top of the stretch.
Majestic Fire ($12.60), who is owned by Joshua Cukerstein and trained by Wayne Cukerstein, was fourth after three-quarters. He was far outside as First Call was far inside as the two fought it out in deep stretch. It was Majestic Fire just able to stick a nose in front to win at the wire in 1:55.3. First Call settled for second best. Winning Princess (Jennifer Lappe) finished third.
Majestic Fire is a 4-year-old gelding by Majestic Son. He won for the fourth time this season. He now owns 10 victories in his career.
Jimmy Whittemore drove three winners on the night. He got his wins with Gimme The Cash ($5.20), Southeaster ($10.00), and Summer Chrome ($9.60).
Vernon Downs returns to live racing on Saturday (July 13) with a 10 race card starting at 6:10 p.m. The Miracle Mile will feature the second annual wiener dog trot.
