Major In Art, a son of the great Art Major has made a good start to his siring career in both North America and Australasia in the last 15 months.
Racing only 10 times at two for six wins and three places, Major In Art won the two plum races of his year in the Woodrow Wilson and the Metro Pace on his way to earning $896,00 before a major injury ended his career before it had really got going.
Standing first at stud in Australasia, he was well received in both Australia and NZ.
With his oldest stock just turned three down under he is already well on his way to making it as a sire.
He has already left 12 winners and stakes of close to $200,000 in Australia including the smart filly Melita Bromac (1:57:2) .
In NZ with just 33 3 yr olds he has already had 15 to race including such talented types as Ultimate Major (2wins /2 starts and reportedly under offer for a six figure sum to Australia) and Major Sam (3 wins from 5 starts) who looks as though he will make a derby horse in the autumn.
His first crop hit the tracks in North America in 2013 and have already earned close to $400,000 with 48 starters from his 106 foals.
His North American stock are highlighted by the smart Some Major Beach (1:53:2) who has earned $138,000 to date but could have earned substantionally more but for being severely checked in the Metro Pace when looking all over the winner.
Part owned by the well known Perth breeder,Robert Watson , he looks to be in for a huge 3yr old season.
One thing is obvious from watching the stock of Major In Art race. Whatever they do at two, they will only improve out of sight at three.
A tall (16Hds) and atheletic horse himself, the stock of Major in Art are also cast in that mould and time will be their best friend.
So the results achieved by his 2 yr olds on both sides of the world should be really encourageing for those who have stock by this big son of Art Major.
