Veteran Melton mentor Jack Shelley has enjoyed great success over the years, especially at the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds in the halcyon days winning several feature events with the trotters and snared the NHP Eldon Trotters Handicap for T1 or better class over 2585 metres at Cranbourne on Saturday (August 2) with Malhana Miss, a 6-Y-0 Malhana Gindin/Rhettsina mare who hadn't won a race since March 2006.

Driven by son Brian, Malhana Miss began safely from the 10 metre mark to park outside the early leader and polemarker Ballycotton, before taking over at the head of affairs on entering the front straight on the first occasion.

Allowed to bowl along at a dawdle without any pressure being applied, Malhana Miss kicked away on turning and maintained a margin all the way up the running in defeating Regal Volo and Joeannas Boy in a pedestrian 2-09.9.
