Great Western sisters Michelle and Kerryn Manning took the honours at the Stawell harness racing fixture held on Wednesday May 8th, Michelle with a training and driving double - Wheatsheaf Avaball and Aheadofhistime and Kerryn with a driving double - Shandorlass and Paparazzi Snapshot.

Seven year old Presidential Ball/Dontsayawordbut gelding Wheatsheaf Avaball has raced consistently all season and deserved his victory in the Stawell Florist Pace for C4 & C5 class over 2175 metres.

Restrained from outside the front row to settle at the tail of the field with the leaders Peaces Of You, Run Ripalong, Weallwantano and Giveusagrin all scorching out as the starter despatched the field with Run Ripalong the first to ease, it was clearly seen that those at the back of the field were well suited.

Copping plenty of pressure mid-race from Giveusagrin and Weallwantano (three wide), Peaces Of You was sitting target and gave ground in the final circuit with Giveusagrin racing straight past her to lead approaching the home turn.

After a cosy trip one/one, Kerryn eased Run Ripalong three wide on the final bend with Wheatsheaf Avaball joining in three wide.

Finishing best, Wheatsheaf Avaball scored by 2.8 metres in a rate of 2-00.6 over Run Ripalong, with Peter Manning's Torque Artraction third from mid-field.

Tough Village Jasper/All In Good Time gelding Aheadofhistime was a strong victor of the Grampians Estate 3-Y-0 Pace over 1780 metres.

Trapped four wide from outside the front row, then three wide before parking outside the pacemaker Idle Hands, Aheadofhistime surged clear on the home turn to defeat Four Starzzz Fella (one/one) by 1.4 metres in 2-02.3, with Idle Hands holding down third.

Murray Bridge (S-A) trainer Alan Cronin employed Kerryn's services to steer 4-Y-0 It Is I/Shandor mare Shandorlass to an all the way victory from the pole in the Gold Reef Clothing Pace for C0 class over 1780 metres.

Given an easy time, Shandorlass just lasted by a half head from Mayorofshinetown which raced outside her in a rate of 2-00.4, with Extra third after following the winner.

Armstrong (Ararat) trainer Brooke Hansen's 6-Y-0 Grinfromeartoear/Hyclass Sioux mare Paparazzi Snapshot overcame a daunting 40 metre backmark to land the Renown Silverware Trotters Handicap for T0 or better class over 2175 metres.

Stepping cleanly, Paparazzi Snapshot from last trailed up the well backed Death Defying ahead of her three wide mid-race to park outside the leader Trot For Pete, before surging clear in the final circuit.

Although he tried hard, Death Defying was no match for the winner who blitzed her rivals by a 6 metre margin in a rate of 2-07.6. Gavlenn Sunset battled into third place 7.3 metres away after being shuffled back through the field after originally lobbing one/one.

Portland trainer Gloria Council was successful with her 5-Y-0 Jet Laag/Ella Jane gelding Australian Bite in the Waacks Bakery Pace for C2 & C3 class over 2180 metres.

Given a lovely passage one/one by nephew Heath Bourke, Australian Bite which has been racing into form, travelled beautifully all through the race, with Kevin Brough's Rosharni burning away from gate six to lead leaving the favourite Secret Ruby facing the breeze.

Easing three wide on the home turn, Australian Bite proved too strong at the finish for the fast finishing Obama from last in a rate of 2-02.7 (the margin 1.3 metres) which cut Rosharni out of second in the last bound.

Mount Gambier pair Barry and Jayson Finnis continued their regular raid on Victoria when 4-Y-0 P Forty Seven/Surfing Queen mare Forty Seven Flash greeted the judge in the Stawell Newsagency Pace for C1 class over 1780 metres.

Surprisingly beaten for speed from gate three as Tara Tom outside him led easily, young Jayson sooled Forty Seven Flash forward to assume control without spending too much petrol, before coasting to the wire 4.7 metres in advance of Tara Tom and Gnotuk which moved to face the breeze after Forty Seven Flash had taken over.

Peter Manning's in-form Real Desire/Calories 4-Y-0 gelding Indulgent made a one act affair of the $5250 Dale Giles Memorial Pace Final for C1 class over 2175 metres, returning a mile rate of 2-00.7.

Taking a concession for Terang's Jason Lee who wasted no time in sending him forward from the extreme draw to join Kerryn Manning's Kinky Boots which had eased around the leader Guvs Boy shortly after the start.

With Indulgent inclined to over race at times, Kerryn wisely elected to hand over the front running mid-race, allowing Indulgent to stride clear.

Careering away on the final bend, Indulgent scored by an untouched 16.3 metres to make a clean sweep of the race having won his heat at Terang a week earlier.

Tres Hombres finished second off a three wide trail last lap, with Kinky Boots third.

Bred and raced by John Dorrington under the heading of Dorro Nominees Pty Ltd, Indulgent has fronted the starter on 23 occasions for five wins.
