CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Taking control early and disposing of all challengers Thelastonestanding trotted to an easy harness racing victory in the Maritime Breeder's final Saturday afternoon at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Driver Brian MacPhee hustled the son of Northern Bailey to the lead off the gate in the $10,700 Maritime Breeder's three-year-old trot final and released challenger Little Miss Winnie (Driven by Clare MacDonald) to the front in the 29.2 first quarter.
Thelastonestanding then moved out to reacquire the front before the 3-8ths pole and continued to cruise through splits of 59 and 1:29 while widening his advantage before stopping the clock in 2:00.2 with a four-and-a-half length margin in the final Atlantic Stakes engagement of his career. Second went to Richsnortherndream (Kenny Arsenault) with Dusty Lane Titan (Marc Campbell) third.

Mabou Ridge prevailed in the $12,100 Maritime Breeder's two-year-old trot final in the last start of the season for the rookie trotters. The Armbro Barrister gelding scored an easy seven-length victory in 2:02.2 for trainer-driver Clare MacDonald and owner Arnold Rankin of Antigonish, N.S., while denying Tequila Tuesday the Maritime Triple Crown in the division. Tequila Tuesday (Myles Heffernan Sr.) was second while Go With Her (Steven Shepherd) completed the triactor.
Driver Jason Hughes had a driving quadruple on the program including a pair of wins for trainer Sifroi Melanson. Overbearing was a winner in 1:59.4 for Hughes and Melason while Woodmere Ideal Art captured the $2,800 preferred pace in 1:57.1 for the Stratford driver and the New Brunswick trainer. Hughes also hit the wire first with Jeb in 1:59.2 for trainer Kevin Gillis and with Winter Blast in a 1:58.2 mile for conditioner Jennifer Doyle.
