The 2HUf million classic heat race, the Dr. Jozsef Vecsekloy Memorial, was contested Saturday and quite an event it was at the Budapest, Hungary racetrack.

When the dust settled after a match-raceoff, Masterpiece, the veteran eight-year-old son of Tony Oaks-Fairplay wore the crown, and the gold, with a gate to wire score in 1.14.8kr over 1800 meters autostart.

Trainer Lajos Marton teamed the winner for longtime owner AMMA Loverseny Kft. First heat winner Nobody, a seven-year-old son of Tony Oaks-Gunnel Diadem, was a hard driving second in the race-off for Emil Csordas, also trainer. In the first heat Masterpiece was locked on the pegs, shuffled and never had a clear path toward the winners. In the second heat Masterpiece took the lead early and was never headed to score by two lengths.

Ollyan nincs was second in both heats and raced exceptionally well for Andrea Fazekas.
