Woodlands Stud, Charles Roberts and the Kenny Family are delighted to announce the safe arrival of the first foal from champion harness racing mare Adore Me.
Born at 2.00am on Wednesday 7th September the filly by Woodlands Sire Sweet Lou is a lovely type with good size, confirmation and an aura of class.
Mary Kenny exclaimed ‘We are all just so thankful that Adore Me has foaled safely and that her first foal is such an outstanding individual. The prospect of having this Sweet Lou filly on the track in a couple of years’ time is truly exciting’
Adore Me’s phenomenal race record of 26 wins, over $1.6m dollars in stakes and a sizzling 1.47.7 mile rate has seen her etch her name in the history books.
Bred in the purple being a daughter of World Champion Sire Bettor's Delight out of New Zealand "Broodmare of the Year" Scuse Me – Adore Me’s pedigree is simply world class.
To continue the dynasty Adore Me needed an equally breathtaking match, enter Sweet Lou, the fastest two-year-old (1:49) in history and the fastest five-year-old (1:47) in history.
Winner of 33 Races, holder of multiple world records, Dan Patch Horse of the Year title winner at 2 and 5 and USA Pacer of the Year in 2014.
A champion horse who raced with and defeated the best throughout his extensive career.
He has served two full books in North America and stands his second season here in NZ.
His ‘date’ with Adore Me was not his first encounter with a champion mare, having already served other World Class Mares including the dam of Rock N Roll Heaven 1:47.3 ($2,774,478), and Pure Country p3, 1:49.2 ($1,716,749) and a full sister to the sensational Captaintreacherous 1:47.1 ($3,153,541) .
Woodlands Stud co-owner Dr Andrew Grierson explains;
“Sweet Lou’s athleticism, speed, toughness and pure class made him a sensational cross for the daughter of Bettor’s Delight. We are very hopeful of a quality cross from Lou over Bettor’s mares as his half-brother Bettor Sweet is one of the best sons ever of Bettor’s Delight, so we know Sweet Lou’s maternal line ‘clicks’ with that bloodline.
“This is one of the many reasons we bought him down to give Australasian breeders an outcross option for their Bettor’s Delight mares – we’re very excited to see what the future holds for this sire.”
