The Standardbred Retirement Foundation (SRF) was gifted a match grant until December 31, 2012. To take advantage of year-end harness racing tax deductions, SRF is encouraging support so the horses in their care can benefit from the dollar for dollar match grant they received.

With 163 horses under the total care and bill of the SRF, funds are very much needed. Of the 163 Standardbreds it is expected that 102 will remain with SRF for life, resting in pasture, as they are unattractive to adopters due to age or injury.

Many of these are old campaigners earned well and were passed through the claiming ranks left with chronic injuries, but are comfortable in pasture. It was a difficult year for the 23 year old non-profit with the loss of the rehabilitation center/farm, separating the horses from the operation at a new location, and the struggle from the affects of Storm Sandy.

In spite of these challenges the foundation still secured their yearly goal for adoptions with 110 and followed up every home for every horse placed in adoption since 1989, making sure no horse is at risk again.

This component of the mission is unrivaled by any other organization. To make a tax-deductible contribution kindly contact Paula Campbell at 732 446-4422, SRF 353 Sweetmans Lane, Millstone Twp., NJ 08535,, or go to the website and use our Paypal link. The horses in SRF's care include 102 non-rideable horses and 61 riding horses. Some are listed below.
