Oamaru based harness racing driver Mathew Williamson bagged himself three winners at the Invercargill Harness Racing Club's meeting held today (Tuesday). The 20 year old has shown himself to be young reinsman of considerable talent and today was the third occasion Williamson has driven three winner in a day.

He is quickly closing in on 100 wins as a driver and currently sits on 22 winners this season, a career tally of 95. "I'd quite like to drive 50 for the season, I almost got there last year and just fell short," Williamson said.

Today's winners were provided by Williamson's biggest supporters. Husband and Wife duo Geoff and Judith Knight has Tartan B B trained to the minute, providing Williamson with his second win of the day following on from the Chris McLeod trained Armbro Demon in race one. "I drove a winner for Geoff and Judith in my first drive for them, they've been good enough to stick with me and they're my main outside stable." The daughter of Falcon Seelster is from smart race-mare Tartan Lady, and time is likely to benefit the three year old according to Williamson.

"I drove her at the Balfour Trials and won so she was expected to go pretty good today, but she's a big horse and she'll be much better next year." The former Alan Clark trained Rhythmic Sun,having his first start for Phil Williamson, gave Mathew Williamson the treble and bragging rights over fellow junior and leading reinsman Dexter Dunn who had to be content with second behind The Widowmaker, stablemate of the winner. "I was a bit worried turning for home, I thought I'd mucked it up but we got there in the end. Dex is not very easy to beat so anytime you do it's pretty good," said Williamson.
