In what is a carbon copy of Star Of Isis last season, the Jim Curtin trained Maximan bought up his fifth straight victory when thrashing his rivals in today’s $15,000 Manawatu Cup.

Like the Curtin trained Star Of Isis did last year, Maximan headed to the feature Manawatu meeting with three straight victorious to his name, before taking out both the Palmerstonian Classic and the Manawatu Cup.

But the similarities don’t stop there either as both runners paid odds of $1.60 for the win.

And they say history doesn’t repeat itself?

Maximan was one of two winners on the card for Jim Curtin who also steered Elsu Attack to success.

Nicky Chilcott, Peter Ferguson, and Andre Potuma, who was wearing the New Zealand colours that he carried to victory in the Australasian Young Drivers Series, also drove two winners apiece.

In others news, a meeting will be held tomorrow to decide the fate of the Akaroa Trotting Club meeting that was abandoned today due to weather conditions.
