The Paul McCartin trained MC Blizzard looks to be a nice trotter in the making judging by his performance at New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club's harness racing meeting held at Addington Raceway tonight October 9th (Saturday).

Many pundits would be familiar with the colours worn by driver James Geddes behind the big son of Dream Vacation as being the same used early on in the career of star pacer back in the 70's, Arapaho. Paul's father-in-law Lawrie Ford owned Arapaho and trained him initially before Jack Smolenski took over the duties, delivering the ultimate glory in winning the 1973 NZ Cup at Addington Raceway.

MC Blizzard is raced by Gail Gibbens in partnership with McCartin who bred the horse after borrowing the Gee Whizz mare J D Gee from good friends, the Geddes family. "Paul helps out in the morning and we work in together," said James Geddes. "He's got a couple in work at our place and this fellow's always been quite a nice horse. Paul's a pretty generous type, so suspect it will be his shout tonight," Geddes smiled.

Later in the night top squaregaiter Stylish Monarch made a auspicious return to the racetrack with a tradesman like display to beat With Intent and Goldstar Invasion. The short-priced favourite looked a good thing for punters, trainer Murray Tapper had the son of Monarchy presented in superb shape and set for a big season to come.

Top Sire: Christian Cullen 4 wins.
