Future star? The highest priced purchase at the 2014 Pryde’s Easifeed Australasian Premier Trotting Sale was this striking Muscle Hill/Calder Luck colt.

Trotting in Victoria continues to go from strength to strength.

In addition to five Victorian-trained trotters making up over half of the eight-horse field for Saturday night’s Group 1 NSW Trotters Derby, the inaugural Pryde’s Easifeed Australasian Premier Trotting Sale – the only auction in the Southern Hemisphere dedicated squarely to the trotter – has been an instant success with five graduates to line up in the two Group 1 $50,000 Platinum Home Grown finals tomorrow night at Melton’s Tabcorp Park.

The fillies’ final will see $17,000 purchase Aldebaran Midnite (Skyvalley/Aldebaran Sunset), $25,000 purchase Endsino (Angus Hall/Jauriol) and Meadow Valley Road (Skyvalley/Mangonique), which was passed in, all in action.

In the colts and geldings’ final, Livin The Life (Dream Vacation/Cloud Chaser), purchased for $17,000, and $10,000 buy Mister Oz (Sundon/Queen Rhapsody) will compete.

Of the 40 yearlings in the catalogue for the sale, an incredible 18 have qualified already.

The sale is a joint venture between Harness Racing Victoria, Harness Breeders Victoria and Pryde’s Easifeed.

The second sale in 2014 averaged $16,359, with the clearance rate an exceptional 86 per cent – the highest price being $41,000 for a Muscle Hill/Calder Luck colt.
