Taylor Vit, son of Kathie and Bill Vit of Cool Cat Racing, formerly Bowl Stables, was involved in a fatal automobile accident in October 2010 in Lexington, KY, at the young age of 22.
Taylor was an accomplished young man, the Assistant Captain of the University of Kentucky's Ice Hockey Team, a senior majoring in Economics who had a love for Standardbred Race horses. He worked during the summers for Saga Farm in Kentucky, and Winbak Farm in Maryland.
His family, parents and brothers, Zachary and Cameron, knowing Taylor's love for the horses, have established the Taylor Vit Memorial Fund in his memory at the Standardbred Retirement Foundation (SRF). Cool Cat Racing has committed a percent of their earnings to Taylor's fund.
SRF is the only charity dedicated to Standardbreds whose mission helps horses of any age or candidacy for adoption, retires those passed over by adopters due to age or injury, never relinquishes ownership, and has a lifelong commitment to their horses. Today, 204 horses are under the care of SRF.
Contributions in memory of Taylor will help provide the horses he had a passion for, with lifelong dignity, and may be made by going to SRF's website at Adoptahorse.org, mailing to SRF at 353 Sweetmans LN, Millstone Twp, NJ 08535, by contacting Judith Bokman at (732) 446-4422, or by using the Win*Win form available on SRF's website to set up an automatic deduction from winnings.
