Over a month ago it was reported that Mike Santa Maria, a former USTA director and NY SOA field representative, was suffering from a serious heart condition which threatened his very life. At this time, it is a pleasure to report that our old harness racing friend from New York has been released from the hospital after a 35-day stay.
Fortunately for Mike, his family support team was there for him all during the period of his confinement.
I spoke with Mike this afternoon, and he extends his heartfelt thanks to all of the folks in the industry who sent him cards and letters. All of us continue to wish Mike a speedy and complete recovery. His Florida buddies from Roosevelt Raceway days miss their Tuesday luncheons with Mike, including veterans Lucien Fontaine, Bobby Hiel, Frank Tagariello, and "Red" Falhaber.
