He called for thorough and regular education in relation to supplements for harness racing trainers and stablehands, as well as inexpensive access to professional advice and feedback from stewards on the results of random testing, to help address the problem.
Scala said cheating was “much more prevalent in the horse and harness racing industries” than people may believe.
Sunraysia is home to many hobby trainers of trots and gallops horses, who Scala said might not have the resources or knowledge of full-time trainers.
