Last year's Watpac Inter Dominion was the start of his woes and sadly Mister Swinger won't even be a part of this year's prestigious harness racing carnival in New South Wales. The dual Barastoc Grand Circuit winner has strained a tendon and will spend at least three months in the paddock.

Trainer Geoff Webster revealed this week that the six-year-old son of Village Jasper injured himself when unplaced behind Cincinnati Kid in the PETstock Ballarat Cup on January 30 and wouldn't be seen until the 2010/11 season.

"He's had some niggling problems with the leg and eventually the tendon's been strained, so he'll be out of action for at least three months," Webster said.

"It's not career-ending, but it's definitely a serious setback for him given he's a six-year-old stallion. Long term, though, I think he'll get through it."

Mister Swinger heads to the spelling paddock a winner of 20 of 59 starts and a tick over $403,000.

The bulk of those winnings came via a dream three-week patch in January last year when he won Group 1 features, the South Australian Cup and the PETstock Ballarat Cup, in consecutive starts.

He continued on to the Inter Dominion on the Gold Coast, but after running third in his opening heat he finished second last in his other qualifier before failing to beat home a runner in the consolation.

He has had only six starts since ID09 for one placing, a first-up second behind Sammy Maguire at Tabcorp Park on New Year's Eve.

Watpac ID10 will continue without Mister Swinger. It begins with heats at Harold Park on February 19, continues with more qualifiers at Newcastle on February 27 before a $1 million final at Menangle on March 7.
