Spend It All takes on older mare again

DOVER, Del. ---- After beating an all distaff feature field of eight, last week, sophomore Spend It All returns to face eight other females in the $21,000 Filly and Mare Open Handicap on Monday, Dec.16 at Dover Downs. Post time is 4:30 p.m.

Spend It All scored a 1:52.2 victory last week when Jim Morand drove the Brooke Givens and Steve Head-owned three-year-old to her 15th win of the season. Ken Wood, Bill Dittmar and Steve Iaquinta's Jeremes Sweetheart was a head back in second. Vic Kirby will drive this week. Ross Wolfenden handles Peter Tritton's San Fran Lady N, who raced outside for most of the middle fractions with Tony Morgan. Eighthunrdolarbill, driven by Chris Page for owners Bob Darrow and Ron Broadstone, finished third in his first local appearance.

Trainer Bob Winkleman' s Paradise picks up driver Trace Tetrick staring from post 9 in the second tier. Richard Crammer, Black Dog Stable and trainer Bob Reeser's Timmylynn drew the rail with Montrell Teague driving. Three other contenders are making their first local starts; Kim Hunderpfund's Docdor Libby and Ross Wolfenden, George Teague's No Bad Luck with Corey Callahan and Bay Pond Stable's Freedom Crossing with Allen Davis in the bike.

Monday through Thursday, post time is 4:30 p.m. Beginning Dec. 20 through Dec. 28, the annual Christmas Holiday Break takes place. Live racing then will return on Sunday, Dec. 29 when racing begins at 5:30 p.m.

Simulcasting of harness and thoroughbred racing is available daily from 12 Noon until 12 Midnight. There is no charge for parking and admission. Reservations are suggested for the Winner's Circle Restaurant and for those planning to stay at Dover Downs Hotel. Call 302-674-4600.
