Lombo Pocket Watch - the winner of 41 of his 64 starts and $1.45 million.

Next Monday's (November 2) $60,000 Kaikoura Cup will be the 'last chance saloon' for several budding New Zealand Cup aspirants. The winner of the Group Two, 2400m standing start harness racing event should get an automatic entry into the Cup field. . . but for those that don't perform - the dream of a start in the $1m Cup at Addington Raceway on November 10 could be over.

As of today (Wednesday) there were still 27 nominations striving 15 Cup places. The latest withdrawals are Arma Fake, Biella Star, St Barts, Jimbob Jac, and Lombo Pocket Watch.

It's worth having a crack at the Alabar sponsored Kaikoura Cup. The connections of the winner of this race (if trained in the South Island) will receive automatic entry and a travel subsidy into the Group Two $70,000 Pak' N Save Franklin Cup to be held at Alexandra Park on November 27.

The New Zealand Trotting Cup odds (as at Wednesday October 28) are:

Absolute Magic $501, All Tiger $51, Awesome Armbro $61, Be Good Johnny $101, B Grudge $301, Bettor's Strike $61, Bondy $12, Changeover $5, Corka Dream $81, Fake Chance $201, Flying Interstate $5001, Georgetown $61, Karloo Mick $6, Kiwi Ingenuity $4, Monkey King $6, Mr Feelgood $10, Mr Molly $201, Nearea Franco $31, Ohoka Dallas $201, Pembrook Benny $21, Power Of Tara $31, Rider On The Storm $1001, Smoken Up $8, Special Ops $101, Tribute $101, Washakie $21, Zenad $101.
