Moreland Flash was the winner of $6,000 Open Pace in Northfield Park's opening race on a harness racing Monday night, July 1, 2013.
Andrew Coblentz of Wooster, Ohio owns the seven-year-old pacer. Trainer John G. Wengerd called upon Ronnie Wrenn Jr. to drive the gelding.
Moreland Flash (-Carols Cliff- ) started from post-four and led at every call through blistering fractions of :26.4, :54.2, 1:22.3 and 1:51.4. Moreland Flash easily handled his competition and was 1 1/2-lengths in front at the wire.
The 1:51.4 clocking represents a new lifetime mark for Moreland Flash. Completing the race were Bruisen N Cruisen, Mybrothergeorge, Beans And Weenies, Lite Me Up, Traczar and Gordieisanartist.
Monday’s triumph increased Moreland Flash’s lifetime wins tally to 34 and his career earnings to $84,329. He returned $8.00 to win.
Lady Rev was a repeat winner of the $6,000 Open Trot for owners Kathleen Duszynski and John Caterinacci along co-owner/trainer Oliver Hepner Jr. Hepner once again called upon her regular pilot Frank Harris to drive.
Lady Rev (-Red Mile Lane- ) started from post six and sat mid-pack through initial fractions of :28.1 and :58.2. Harris made his move in the third quarter and never looked back.
Lady Rev posted final fractions of 1:28.1 and 1:57.3. She finished an easy 3 1/2-lengths in front of her closest rival. Completing the race were Lima Legend, Saintfrancis, Senator Sam, Wind Surfer, Sand Violent Blu, Credit Score, Norma’s Rose and Walked Into Heaven.
Lady Rev now has seven wins in 2013 and 23 career successes. Monday’s victory pushed her career bankroll to $93,158. She paid $14.60 to win.
