Morgan Woodley - doing what he does best.

Morgan Woodley has become a member of the elite 500 Club of drivers who have each driven 500 winners in Perth.

The 25yo Woodley achieved the feat on May 16th when he won with Loose Wire and made his total 501 after the win of La Stella Del Mare at Gloucester Park last Friday night.

There are now 17 drivers in the 500 Club which is restricted to winners of races at Gloucester Park and the now defunct second metropolitan track of Richmond Raceway.

Frank Kersley, widely regarded as the doyen of Australian reinsmen, was the first to drive 500 winners in Perth when he drove James Dillon to victory on 28th November 1953.

Kersley’s feat was even more remarkable in that it was achieved in an era when meetings in Perth were restricted to seven races and there were less than 50 race-meetings held in Perth each season.

The all-time list of drivers with 500 or more Perth winners is as follows:

1 Chris Lewis 2336

2 Fred R Kersley 1735

3 Gary Hall Jnr 1364

4 Colin Brown 1314

5 Trevor Warwick 1177

6 Lindsay Harper 879

7 Phil Coulson 818

8 Jim Schrader 678

9 Mark Reed 629

10 Lyle Lindau 570

11 Justin Warwick 567

12 Alan Woodworth 561

13 Max Johnson 548

14 Frank Kersley 533

15 Fred Kersley Snr 532

16 Les Poyser 512

17 Morgan Woodley 501
