Master In Charge won the battle to the wire to win the $16,000 Winners-Over feature trot at Dover Downs on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at Dover Downs. With former Kiwi harness racing driver Ross Wolfenden at the controls Master In Charge overtook leader Defend The Rock (Corey Callahan) and held off fast finishing Photo Maxx (Jon Roberts) to score a 1:55.4 victory in the week's top overnight trot.
Joe Hundertpfund trains the-Take Charge Lady gelding for Steve Bookstaber. It was the five-year-old’s fifth win of the year and improved his earnings to $88,661 this season. Photo Maxx got up for second with Defend The Rock, the leader until half-way down the stretch, holding on for third.
Jeter Marvel won the fastest of two sub-feature $13,500 trots. Owner, trainer, driver Toby Lynch’s Jeter Marvel, a-Meadow Hush gelding, made it two wins in a row chalking up a 1:56.3 victory. Maravich (Corey Callahan) was second with Allamerican Cheer (Ross Wolfenden) the third finisher.
In the other $13,500 division. Matt Kakaley piloted Arty Foster’s Spunky Vic home in 1:56.4. The altered son of-B Cor Spunky was followed by Justherighttouch (Corey Callahan) and Expensive Boy (Vince Copeland),.second and third respectively.
Driver Mark Gray had a big day. He guided Scott Collier and Ryan Gray’s Sometimes Regrets, a Spirited Style-Pelikn gelding, to a 25-1 surprise in a $10,500 3,4&5-Year-Old pace to win for the seventh time this season. Cityscape (Jon Roberts) was second best while Recent News (Jeff Fout) was the show horse.
Gray was not through for the day with a longshot. He chauffeured 9-1 Lady Ann Christine to the winner’s circle in 1:56.3 for owners Bob and Elberta Murray. The-Ladyjack four-year-old won for the third time this campaign. Issie Blue By You (Montrell Teague) was runner-up with Peeeeyouuuuuuuu (CQ) (Tony Morgan) third.
Monday through Thursday post time is 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday racing begins at 5:30 p.m. There is no live racing on Fridays. Simulcasting of top harness and thoroughbred racing and NFL three-game parley wagering is available daily from 12 Noon until 12 Midnight in the Racing and Sport Book in the Colonnade.
