Green Acres Final to Nubble Light at Freehold

MANALAPAN, NJ - October 4, 2014 - Nubble Light was widest of all in a four-horse charge to the wire, winning by a neck in the $25,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes - Green Acres for three-year-old pacing colts and geldings, the sixth race on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Freehold Raceway.

Steve Smith tipped Nubble Light [Rocknroll Hanover] wide in the stretch, getting up in the final strides to catch Sassy Hanover [Western Ideal] in a career best 1:55 flat. It was half a length to Card Shock [Cam's Card Shark] in third.

Nubble Light paid $8.60 to win as the third choice in the wagering.

The Deleston Cote trainee also won the $25,000 Green Acres Final as a two-year-old on October 19, 2013.

Nubble Light now has five wins, two seconds and four thirds in 19 starts this year and has finished in-the-money in 13 of 28 career starts for a bankroll of $54,619. The gelding races for the partnership of Deleston Cote of Cream Ridge, NJ; Henry Faragalli III of Bryn Mawr, PA; Trevor Johnson of Phoenixville, PA and Jeffrey Ruben of Bryn Mawr, PA.

In the third race, the third leg of the Green Acres for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings, Too Darn Hot [Rocknroll Hanover] was a head winner over 1-2 favorite Rock N Roll World [Rocknroll Hanover] in 1:58.4.

Devils Cut [Western Ideal] was two lengths back in third.

Too Darn Hot [$5.40], driven by Eric Abbatiello and trained by Ron Burke, picked up his fifth win and has been first or second in seven of 10 starts. He is owned by Burke Racing, Our Horse Cents Stables, Weaver Bruscemi and Larry Karr.

The $25,000 Green Acres Final for three-year-old trotting fillies drew three entrants and will be raced as the first of two non-wagering events on Thursday, October 9, 2014.

Shelikescandy [Chocolatier], who won all three of the preliminary legs, will bid for a sweep, facing Coin Collector [Chocolatier] and Revergreen [Revenue]. Shelikescandy, trained by Dawn Anderson and owned by George Beck of Freehold, NJ, will leave from post three with Steve Smith driving.

The second non-betting event is the $7,000 second leg of the Green Acres for three-year-old trotting colts and geldings.
