Nakai Hanover is part of the action-packed line-up on a 14 dash harness racing program Saturday at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Post time is 1pm with the program carried at www.redshores.ca. Customers can also watch and wager at the Red Shores Summerside location.

The four-year-old son of Cams Card Shark, who was lightly raced last year, turned some heads last week after a second place performance for trainer Trevor Easter and driver Marc Whebby. The Whebby stable of Darmouth, N.S. is certainly familiar with thrilling finishes after all they’ve won the Gold Cup & Saucer five times.

Race analyst Les MacIsaac is certainly on board with the 5-2 morning line favorite in race 14. “He came from last at the three quarters in his latest to finish second after kicking home in 28.4 (seconds), not bad for his first start since the summer,” said MacIsaac. “He can only be tighter after that and moves five spots to his left (pp2) also helps. He’ll be hard to deny.” The Easter trainee will meet some tough customers with Blue Meadow Willie and Casual Motion listed as top three contenders. Hutchinson Hanover drew the rail for owner Paul Weeks, Charlottetown.

The afternoon top class will see nine of Island’s top guns going to the gate. Oakrock Almighty, owned by Jack Keenan, Stratford and Joseph Dahl, Burlington, Ontario, will have to leave from the back tier after drawing post nine. Ron Matheson will be in the bike for his son Jackie who handles the training duties. This guy has five top three finishes in his last six races. Huronexpress will join the top class this week after back to back wins for driver Terry Gallant. Gallant will do the driving for his co-owner Bloice Alton Ramsey of Kensington. The other competitors include Rebelryan, JK Special, Le Fugueur, Last Art on Deck, Coraggio Hanover, Onehotvett and Blue Star Outlaw.
