Talented 19-year-old harness driver Narissa McMullen has been selected to represent Queensland in the 2014 Australasian Young Driver’s Championship held in Sydney as part of the Inter Dominion Grand Final Week.
Narissa won the 2013 Chairman’s Award, BOTRA Rising Star and September’s Centenary Classic Young Achievers monthly award at the Queensland Harness Industry Awards on October 13, 2013.
Queensland Harness Racing Board (QHRB) Chairman Brad Steele said she was the perfect selection to represent Queensland in the prestigious race series.
“Narissa is highly competent and professional reins person who has achieved sustained great success over the past few seasons,” Mr Steele said.
“We have been very impressed with the manner by which Narissa conducts herself both on and off the race track and feel she is most deserving of the privilege to represent our state and sport. We wish her every success.”
The daughter of industry stalwart John McMullen and granddaughter of John McMullen Snr., Narissa has had a successful season accumulating 69 wins and 86 placings from 395 starts.
She also is an aspiring trainer with eight wins and 12 placings to her name from 60 starters, forging her own name out of the shadows of older brother Pete McMullen.
