HARRINGTON, Del. – Harness racing's Frank Chick and David Hamm's Nerida Franco N ($23.60, Mike Cole) was a 1:53 winner in the $20,000 Mares Open Tuesday at Harrington Raceway.
Firing from her rail post position, Nerida Franco N was the pacesetter and authored fractions of 27 seconds and 55.4 to the half-mile. Artrageous mounted a first-over attack with Jamie's Renegade perched second over to three-quarters in 1:24.1. The outer tier stalled as Empress Deo sat the pocket throughout but was outkicked for second by a late surging Cruzinforavictory. Empress Deo held third.
Trained by Kevin Lare, Nerida Franco registered her 25th career win. The 9-year-old Lis Mara mare has banked more than $310,000 lifetime.
Meet leading driver Art Stafford Jr. had four wins on the program. Tony Morgan and Jon Roberts each had a double.
