Nesta Effe may be entered in Prix d'Amerique

Last week Nesta Effe, the veteran Italian son of Naglo trained by Holger Ehlert, qualified impressively at Follonica after a long layoff. He could be an entrant to the January 26 Prix d'Amerique but needs to have competed in at least one race since October. Management of the Florence track has reportedly offered to provide that opportunity on Sunday over 2100 meters. If this happens the classy chestnut could get a Prix d'Amerique call, along with Mack Grace SM.

Mack Grace SM, the son of CC's Chuckie T, is on a 12 race win streak for trainer Luccio Colletti. He had previously decided not to challenge in the Prix d'Amerique as his pupil is better suited to sprint racing. However, at the request of ownership, Colletti may change plans and Italy could have its two most prestigious equine stars at the start. That would add to the drama of the classic race.

Saturday at Paris-Vincennes two excellent graded events headline the card. The Prix de Pardieu field includes Anastasia Fella, a career winner of over 400,000 euro, and the Prix de Brest includes Libeccio Grif, Sanity and Roi du Lupin, all winners of over 700,000 euro. The first two will start with a 25 meter handicap with the latter 50 meters behind those traveling 2850 meters.
