In Las Vegas, Nevada, on Feb.4, 2009, Jason Bartlett from the state of Maine was honored as the Rising Star of the Year. The Harness Racing Congress along with the Harness Tracks of America, Trotting Association. and the Harness Writers Association teamed up together to proudly present to an overflowing crowd at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, the award winners in the categories, in each of the associations.
The 27 year old Jason Bartlett, whose family hails from Augusta, Maine, was presented the award by the United States Harness Writers. The distinguished " Rising Star Award " is presented to an individual who is up and coming and shows a strong talent in his harness racing field. Jason has had an incredible year after coming down from New England and has commanded a strong following by the trainers at Yonkers Raceway, where he has been driving quite regularly and very frequently.
He was the leading driver at Yonkers Raceway with 461 victories and was also fourth in total wins across the country with 657 wins and earnings of about $6,700,000.00 for the year.
Our hat goes off to Jason and his lovely wife Kristen, and his young daughter and may he continue to represent the New England area with his class on and off the bike. May 2009 be a healthy and a very successful racing season for the Bartletts. May the "Rising Star" just continue to glow.
