Awesome Valley is one of the favorites in New Year's Day Trot at Dover

DOVER, Del.---- The New Year kicks in with a $20,000 Open Handicap trot, the feature race on Wednesday, Dec. 1 at Dover Downs. First post is 4:30 p.m.

Baximum, Awsome Valley and Enrico AS are handicapped with the outside three post positions. Daryl Bier drives fast-closing Baximum, for Tina Clark and Joe Clark. Hard-hitting Awsome Valley owned by Barbara Boese will be driven by Tony Morgan, while Eric Ell's Enrico AS is burdened by starting from outside post 8 with Allan Davis at the controls.

Can Do is a major contenders moving into post 2 for Chris Giacco and trainer-driver Vic Kirby. Mike Casalino and trainer Dylan Davis' Dalglish will be driven by Tony Morgan while Ross Wolfenden will be behind Royal Malinda, owned by Ken Wood, Bill Dittmar and Steve Iaquinta and Walt Callam's Spunky Jack, piloted by Roger Plante has been a factor in most starts this meet. Mandabra and Corey Callahan makes his first appearance this meet leaving from post 1.

A $14,500 4&5-Year-Old Winners-Over trot is sub feature. Mike Mammes' razor-Amiga Valley (Montrell Teague), a recent 1:55.2 winner; trainer-driver Toby Lynch and son Jason's Jailhouse Juice, Carol and trainer Jim Atkinson's Ideal Revenue (Mike Rossi) head a field of eight in the secondary feature.
