Veteran eyes off Newcastle Cup

Josh Osborn will be out to equal a feat his grandfather achieved when he takes the drive on Apollo Drive for Josh ball on Friday night in the Group Three $30,000 Morpeth Limousines Newcastle Cup.

Dick Osborn, a local legend of the sport passed away on the 1st October this year. Dick won the Newcastle Cup with Wilson's Lane in 1988. Josh is the fifth generation of Osborn in the sport of harness racing. He will take the drive on the veteran Apollo Drive who has drawn barrier one for the 2550 metre standing start event.

The eleven year old has been with trainer Josh Ball since he was a two year old. He will be facing the starter for his 158th start on Friday night and while he is a roughie to win the Cup but does race best at Newcastle having had 83 starts at the venue for 18 wins, 17 seconds and 7 thirds.

Start time for the Newcastle Cup is 9:10pm tomorrow night.
