Avenel harness racing trainer Greg Norman enjoyed a profitable night at Cranbourne on Wednesday, chalking up a stable double with Franco Shuttle taking the 1st Heat of the Seelite Windows & Doors Pace for C0 class over 2080 metres and Rockets Gem the ADE Turf Equipment Pace (2nd Heat) for C3 & C4 class over the same distance.

The tough Franco Shuttle, a 5-Y-0 gelded son of the great Holmes Hanover and Show No Mercy settled three back in the moving line from gate three, before being sent forward by Greg Sugars to park outside the pacemaker Tab One racing for the bell.

Showing his customary staying prowess, Franco Shuttle raced clear halfway up the running and defied a late challenge by Vijay Lee to score in a 2-01.7 rate, with Tab One third.

Six year old Pacific Rocket/Larisleas Gem gelding Rockets Gem taking a concession for highly promising Avenel reinsman David Moran, was handed the lead on a platter by Michael Stanley aboard the red-hot favourite Pacific Playgirl going for a hat-trick, and led for the majority of the trip to safely hold Pacific Playgirl at bay in a 2-00.6 rate. Pocket Legend (one/one) held his ground to finish third.

Both Finals of $6,000 will be held at Cranbourne on October 24.

Supreme success

Whittlesea's Mark Peace and Michael Ross combined to land the Cranbourne Trainers Bonanza Pace for C1 class over 2080 metres with 4-Y-0 Mach Three/Supreme Holly mare Mach Is Supreme in a finish which tricked many.

Given a perfect passage one/one from gate four, Mach Is Supreme after easing three wide in the last lap, sustained the move to nose out the well supported Smart And Mighty which followed her home, with Magic Village using the sprint lane off the back of the weakening leader Greygrey for third.

The mile rate 2-01.9.

Here he comes

Strathfieldsaye brothers Glenn and Daryl Douglas scored a huge victory with 4-Y-0 Safe And Sound/Wholelota Rosie gelding Herecomes Kenny in the 2nd Heat of the Seelite Windows & Doors Pace for C0 class over 2080 metres.

Bred and raced by Caroline Springs horsewoman Lisa Justice, Herecomes Kenny trained by Glenn and making his fourth appearance at the races, settled at the tail of the field from the extreme draw, with the heavily backed favourite Rustler Boy leading.

Trailing up Maywyn A Motza ahead of him in the final circuit, Herecomes Kenny produced a dynamic burst of speed after being four wide on the final bend, to race away on straightening to score by a 13 metre margin in advance of Kamwood Kenny and Scarlet Lilly in a mile rate of 2-04.3 (last half 59.4 - quarter 29.3).

The $6,000 Final will be held at Cranbourne on October 24.
