Northfield Park Horsemen pay tribute to Jarrod Duncan

On Monday, March 10, the Northfield Park backstretch community conducted a ceremony in honor of their fellow horseman, 39 year-old Jarrod Duncan, who passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2014.

Duncan began training in 2005 and had since garnered 254 victories and earned purses of $1,238,111. He was born in Wisconsin, grew up in East Moline, Illinois and raced exclusively in the Midwest. He most recently trained a stable of four horses including African Violet, Go Forit BB, Life In The Sand and Shelby Lu.

Jarrod’s service will be held at Crete Funeral Home at 1182 Main Street in Crete, Illinois on Saturday, March 15 where visitors may call from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.  A service will be held at 4:00 p.m.

Stakes Payments Due March 15

Battle of Lake Erie ($1,000) and “Hard Rockin’ Claiming Series” ($100) payments are due by March 15, 2014.   

Since the 15th falls on a Saturday this year, payments postmarked by Monday (March 17) will be accepted.
