Extremely talented harness racing 5-Y-0 Lotsa Clout/Lisa Lombo gelding Off The Cuff Lombo kept his unbeaten record intact, by taking the Gold Bus Pace for C3 & C4 class over 1710 metres at Bray Raceway Ballarat on Tuesday November 17.

Trained and driven by Bannockburn (Geelong) horseman Geoff Webster, Off The Cuff Lombo had little difficulty in leading from gate four and coasted all of the way to make it four from four in easily accounting for Bit Of Courage which trailed and Oneaglewings which followed the pair in an unextended mile rate of 1-56.6 (last half 57.3 - quarter 27.6).

Family quinella

The claimers are usually action packed events and Lara trainer Dean Braun together with partner Juanita McKenzie snared the quinella in the Dunn's Transport Claiming Pace over 2200 metres at Ballarat with two ex-Tasmanians - Hitemup and Wollahra Classic.

Settling three back along the markers after being restrained from outside the front row, Hitemup a low graded C5 class pacer enjoyed a cosy trip with the leaders Sigalas and The Urban Legend keeping each other honest.

Extricated into the clear on straightening by Chris Alford, Hitemup gained a passage inside Wollahra Classic and in a two horse duel to the wire, prevailed by a nose in a tricky finish to claim the major prize, with Glees Jasper running home from last along the inside for third.

A 7-Y-0 gelded son of Topnotcher and Next Pat, Hitemup returned a mile rate of 2-01 in recording his 8th victory from 70 outings.

Back in town

Locally trained 6-Y-0 Armbro Operative/Kalypso gelding Kalypson Kid returned to the winners list when leading virtually throughout to land the Montrose Of Ballarat Pace for C7 to C9 class over 2200 metres.

In the care of Peter Tonkin not far from the course and driven by Chris Alford, Kalypson Kid scored in a rate of 2-02.7 in defeating the well supported mare Jazzam (one/one - first-up since July), with Tibur Power coming from last for third.

The mile rate 2-02.7.

Party night

Glen Park (Ballarat) part-owner/trainer/driver Sebastian Steenhuis brought up victory number eight with his Partywiththebigdog/Goldwood Rebel 5-Y-0 gelding Partywiththedevil in the Fletcher Development Services Pace for C2 class over 2200 metres.

Unable to lead from gate two, Partywiththedevil was trapped in the open, before gaining cover racing for the bell when the heavily supported favourite Text Me Next moved from last to occupy the position outside the leader Eatem Alive.

Easing three wide on the final bend, Partywiththedevil when given a few cracks with the whip responded in fine style by grabbing the bit and charging away to score impressively over the roughie Chromeazone (three back the markers) and Go Milo (one/two) in a mile rate of 2-01.

Smart free goer

Former Kiwi Shadon was successful in the R U Advertising Trotters Handicap for T3 or better class over 2710 metres.

Trained at Bolinda in the Macedon Ranges District by Kari Males, Shadon a 5-Y-0 mare by Sundon from Dal's Shadow was able to cross the leader Justachandon shortly after the start after stepping cleanly and rated to perfection, kicked away on straightening to score an easy victory in advance of a death-seating Tansyn Elle and Ess Jays Dash (one/one) in a pedestrian rate of 2-09.7, giving Alford a treble for the evening.

Another local victory

Smythes Creek hobby trainer Peter Salmon scored aterrific victory with his 5-Y-0 Bookmaker/Manwarra Cherr entire Jewel Of Manwarra in the Bruty Cabinetry & Construction Pace for C1 class over 1710 metres.

With Terang's Glen Craven taking the reins, Jewel Of Manwarra from gate two tried to lead, but was crossed by the rougie Dargletim (gate four), with Craven immediately pulling around him to assume control.

Despite having to work in the last lap, Jewel Of Manwarra found plenty on straightening to draw clear over the concluding stages in advance of The Red Opal off a three wide trail in the last lap who had every opportunity to run him down, with Dargletim holding down third in a mile rate of 1-59.1.

Craven had earlier in the night driven 4-Y-0 Pacific Fella/Tatiana mare Shes A Genius to an all of the way victory for "aunt" Marg Lee in the Just Copiers Pace for C0 class (mares) over 2200 metres, defeating Village Peach (one/one) and Go Lush in a rate of 2-04.1.
