The deadline to renew Ohio-registered Standardbred stallions is November 30, 2020 for the 2021 Ohio harness racing breeding season.
In 2020, a total of 125 stallions were registered in Ohio for the breeding season, which runs from January 15 through July 15 in the Buckeye State. According to the United States Trotting Association (USTA) statistics, 2,860 mares were bred in Ohio in 2020, the most of any state in America.
Renewal forms can be downloaded from the Ohio State Racing Commission website under the Ohio Standardbred Development Fund (OSDF) tab at www.racingohio.net/OSDF.html. As well, the website also contains downloadable forms for new stallions.
The renewal form must be postmarked by November 30, 2020 and include a check or money order for $25. Forms postmarked after that day will be returned and the stallion must be registered as a new stallion, with a $100 fee and a notary seal.
