Wai-Eyre Farm harness racing stallion Ohoka Arizona sired his first winner when 2yo Commanchi Chief was successful in the Kindergarten Stakes prelude run in South Australia at Friday's (February 1) Port Pirie meeting.

Commanchi Chief was well supported in his debut outing and didn't let the punters who backed him into a $2.80 favourite down winning by over seven metres.

Commanchi Chief is one of eight live foals from Ohoka Arizona's first crop in Australia. The 2yo son of Ohoka Arizona was bred at Balmain Lodge property of Geoff and Lorraine Barnes and is owned by Mildura Trotting Club President Barry Bottom as well as local Mildura Doctor Mr. I Cook.

Another Ohoka Arizona youngster that has already stepped out on the race track is New Zealand two-year-filly Saharazona. She has won a workout and a trial and looks to have enough ability to win a race at two.

It's would not be a huge surprise to see the progeny of Ohoka Arizona show up early; after all, he was the first horse in 46 years to equal the mighty Lordship's record in winning the Sapling, Kindergarten and Welcome Stakes at two.

"As his record suggests he was a very good two-year-old, and three of his siblings are two-year-old winners so i'm hoping he can pass the ability to run early down to his progeny," said Ohoka Arizona's owner Katie Carville.

Katie Carville is showing plenty of faith in her unproven sire by sending many of her high quality mares to him.

"We have a lovely 2yo half brother to tonight's (Saturday February 2) Victoria Derby contestant Ee And Em Stride by him. We qualified him about three-weeks ago and have since tipped him out for a bit of a spell. He is beautifully gaited and will be a very nice horse," said Carville.

She also stated that she has nice two-year-old fillies' out of proven producer Millwood Touche and open class mare Chloe Hanover by him.

"I'd love to be sending all my mares to him but I can't because most of them are Falcon Seelster mares and Ohoka Arizona is out of a Falcon Seelster mare in Millwood Krystal," she added.

Ohoka Arizona is one of approximately a half dozen son's of Christian Cullen currently standing at stud in New Zealand.

Another son of Christian Cullen in Pay Me Christian sired his first two-year-old winner just a week ago when Ares was victorious at Invercargill.
