2YO Ruby champion, One Over Da Moon, booked his ticket to the Australasian Breeders' Crown with a strong win in a five horse non-tote heat at Addington last night.

In what was the match-race we never got to see in the Harness Jewels due to Daenerys Targaryen making an uncharacteristic break. Daenerys Targaryen (Ricky May) lead early, before David Butt landed on his wheel with the Paul Nairn trained star One Over Da Moon to put the acid on.

The pair then raced together on the bend but it was the son of Majestic Son and champion trotting mare One Over Kenny who packed more guns in the home stretch, pulling away for a one length victory.

"He is just as tough as he is fast, he really showed tonight," said his driver David Butt.

As 2000m races are unusual for the two-year-old trotters, Over Da Moon's time of 2-30.9, remarkably shaved almost four seconds off the previous 2yo trotter's New Zealand record of Beau Brummel.

2000m races are also highly uncommon at Addington, but will be part of an experiment until the end of the season.

"Races used to be run over 2000ms at Addington, but they were thrown out as it was believed due to the start point being on a bend, the outside horses were going quicker than the inside ones when the gate pulled away, giving them an unfair advantage," advised Anthony Butt.

"A couple of horseman on the board wanted to give it another go, and it will be trialed until the end of the season before a decision is made. Personally I'm not in favour of it," he added.

Meanwhile, owner Trevor Casey confirmed his filly, Daenerys Targaryen, will still target the Breeders' Crown and is likely to head over to Australia for a heat there.

The other 2000m Breeders' Crown heat, this one for the three-year-old's, produced another New Zealand record with Quite A Moment (Quite Easy) downing the previous 3YO fillies record of Inda Bank when narrowly beating Sheemon. She stopped the clock at 2-30.4.
