Just a reminder, if your mare has not yet foaled, it's not too late to register her for the Standardbred Improvement Program's Ontario Resident Mare Program. For the 2012 Foal Year, your harness racing registration form and all fees must be submitted prior to foaling in Ontario.

To qualify as an Ontario Resident Mare, the mare must be enrolled with the Program each year and meet all eligibility requirements as outlined in the 2012 Program Criteria booklet.

There is an annual enrolment fee of $50.00 per mare. By enrolling in the program, foals out of registered Ontario Resident Mares are considered Ontario Bred Foals and as such are eligible for Ontario Bred Rewards.

These rewards are available to both 2 and 3-year-olds and are equal to 15% of their OSS earnings as well as 15% of their earnings in Finals of Open Stakes in Ontario with a purse of $100,000 or more.

Ontario Bred Rewards are payable to and intended to directly reward the breeder or mare owner who made the decision to participate by enrolling the mare in the Ontario Resident Mare Program.

Standardbred Improvement Program including Ontario Resident Mare Program information, criteria and forms may be accessed from the Featured Showcase section on the home page of the Ontario Racing Commission's website at www.ontarioracingcommission.ca.
