The French stallion Orlando Vici, a top trotter in Europe and whose frozen semen is available ‘down under’ at Haras Des Trotteurs, Ballarat (Vic.), continues to churn out the winners.
Beau Garcon, Brandlo Prince and Orlando Jolt NZ, all members of his first crop, were successful in Victoria recently.
Beau Garcon, who is out of a French-bred mare, Glenferrie Unixa, came off a 20 metre handicap to win at Horsham, Brandlo Prince completed his sixth success from 11 starts this season at Ballarat, while Orlando Jolt notched his fourth win at Kilmore.
The trio were all bred by Haras Des Trotteurs principal Pat Driscoll.
Orlando Vici has the amazing score of having sired 10 individual winners from 11 foals in his first Australian crop. They include the NSW Derby winner Xebec, Beau Garcon (Breeders Crown 2YO Silver), Just Believe (Vicbred 3YO Silver) and Orlando Storm (Maryborough Oaks).
Im Hector, a three-year-old gelding and one of the first crop of the Love You horse Quaker Jet, won for the third time this season at Shepparton when he outfinished his rivals from a 10 metre handicap. Quaker Jet has sired seven winners and five placegetters from 14 starters from an initial foal crop of 24.
Meanwhile, Love You himself was credited with a ‘new’ winner in New Zealand in the three-year-old gelding Leaf Stride, who led most of the way on debut at Addington. A $90,000 yearling, Leaf Stride rated 2:02.5 over 1980 metres with the last 800 in a slick 58 seconds.
A notable siring achievement was put up by Ready Cash as the sire of two Group 1 winners at Vincennes, Paris last weekend in Face Time Bourbon and Go On Boy, who annexed the Criterium des 5 Ans and Criterium 4 Ans respectively.
Haras Des Trotteurs has four sons of Ready Cash on its frozen semen roster in the superstar Bold Eagle, Brillantissime, Always Ready and En Solitaire (NZ only).
