Kiwi bred 5-Y-0 Washington Vc/People's Princess gelding Our Arlington capped off a sensational weekend for Geelong district harness racing owners Ron Anderson, Neil Richmond and Garth Allen, Bannockburn trainer Geoff Webster and reinsman Greg Sugars after winning the $25,000 Matthews Petroleum Hamilton Pacing Cup for M0 or better class (D-H) over 2660 metres at Hamilton on Sunday.

Stepping safely from barrier three on the second line, Our Arlington settled mid-field in the moving line, with Amadmancomesundone stepping straight to the front from barrier three, before handing over to Percy The Punter shortly after the start.

Well supported favourite Washmepockets also from the Webster stable was on the move from outside the second line entering the straight on the first occasion to park outside the pacemaker, with Arber three back the markers, Our White Knight one/one and Our Blackbird one/two.

Moving forward three wide uncovered racing for the bell, Our Arlington joined Washmepockets in the back straight and the pair raced in unison until the home turn. Finishing strongly, Our Arlington outstayed his rivals to score by 2.5 metres over Our Blackbird along the sprint lane from three back the markers approaching the home turn, with Arber an unlucky third after being shuffled back through the field when both Percy The Punter and Amadmancomesundone tired in the final circuit. The mile rate 2-00.6.

The trio of owners and Geoff Webster had captured the South Australian Derby at Betezy Park Globe Derby the night before with Flaming Flutter, while Sugars had been successful in the Bendigo Pacing Cup aboard Sushi Sushi.
