Sebastien Guarato's Prix de Selection winner Aladin d'Ecajeul heads the nine-horse field in the 120,000 euro Group 2 Prix Gaston Brunet, the final male lead-up race to next month's Criterium des 4 Ans at Vincennes in early May.

The son of the royally bred Quaker Jet Aladin added the intergenerational Prix de Selection recently to his Criterium des 3 Ans (Gr1) and two other Group twos and has established himself firmly as the pre-eminent 4YO in France.

However Matthieu Abrivard's Aldo des Champs has been making steady progress, running third in the Prix de Selection and was third in the Prix Phaeton, the first of the prep races last start.

The son of Prince d'Espace is a group one place getter, Prix Albert Viel, and is one who is certainly capable of adding to his four career victories thus far.

Third in the market is Vincent Collard Africain, a very consistent horse who has been in the money on a frequent basis without looking likely to win. The son of Oardo will be driven by Franck Nivard

There are few horses with a CV as strong as Franck Anne's Akim du Cap Vert. The son of First de Retz won the top 2YO race in France, the Prix Emmanuel Margouty and was second in the Criterium Des Jeunes (Gr1), and a gallant third in the Prix Albert Viel (Gr1).

He has won two at group two level including the Prix De Tonnac-Villeneuve (G2) in January and has been placed in three other races at group level.

Joel Van Eeckhaute's Ganymede colt Athos des Elfes won the Prix Phaeton at odds of 30/1 last start, his first attempt at group company. The field was minus the likes of Aladin d'Ecajeul, but this was his fifth win in 23 starts, and he has been a consistent improver thus far.
