The feature race at Vincennes tomorrow (Sunday) is the Prix Louis Tillaye, a Group II monte for 3YOs and the major preparatory race for the Group One Prix de Vincennes on the fourth Sunday of December.

The two winners of the major monte races for the A generation, Almira Marancourt   (Saint-Leger des Trotteurs) and Arca Des Jacquets (Prix d’Essai) have bypassed this event, and in their absence the race looks to be between three horses, Alexia du Cherisay, Atwood Grif, and Asana Trembladaise.

Daniel Delaroche’s Alexia du Cherisay was second in the Prix d’Essai and  won the group two monte Prix de Basly two starts ago. In total the daughter of Le Big Bos has won four under saddle and will probably start favourite.

Goetmals Wood  colt Atwood Grif was fourth in the Saint-Leger des Trotteurs and he has also won a Group two monte race in the Prix Edouard Marcillac in February.  Sebastien Guarato’s colt has struggled in his last few outings but they have been in the bike.  He is a different horse under saddle and both wins have been at Vincennes,.

Anthony Dollion’s filly  Asana Trembladaise was second in the Saint-Leger des Trotteurs. The daughter of Kuadro Wildhas only won twice but is a consistent placegetter, and has finished ahead of most of these when they have met.

Of the others, Michael Jean Ruault’s colt Aston Fly was third in the Prix d’Essai. The son of Hermes de Montfort has yet to win in 21 starts but has seven placings, the majority under saddle.

The dark horse might be Thierry Duvaldestin’s  Aquerelle de Fael who has won five times in 10 starts, the last one under saddle, and she has had two second placings since then. Indeed the daughter of Look de Star’s last four starts have been at Vincennes for two wins and two seconds.

Alain Roussel’s Amande Amere has only raced under saddle and she gained the daughter of Mister President’s  first win four starts back in her 11th start, winning two in  a row before a second at Enghien and a third at Vincennes.

Hedi Le Bec’s  Adio Josselyn has won in the bike at Vincennes but this is his first time under saddle while Åke Kristoffersson Amour de Retz has been consistently placed in monte races and has top rider Yoann Lebourgeois  on board.
