The Illinois Stallion Stakes have added a boost to the racing program at the White County Fair.
Now, fans will enjoy some added incentives to attend the races during the three-day event.
he harness racing portion of the White County Fair will kick off Sunday, July 30 with a special 4 p.m. post time.
The Illinois Stallion Stakes for 2-Year-Olds will be the highlight on the track with each heat expected to race for a purse of $14,000.
The day will also kick off several racing promotions for the week, including free pizzas, giveaways, and cash prizes.
DiMaggio's Pizza of Carmi will provide a drawing for a free pizza after each race during all three racing programs.
Also, a "Pick The Winner" contest will be held each evening, awarding one lucky fan a $5 cash prize following each race.
In addition to the contest, several local businesses will offergiveaways. Reflections Beauty Shop of Carmi will offer a gift basket. Leggett's Market will sponsor a $25 gift certificate, and Skeeter Kell Sports and Hoosier Park will offer a gift packages. Pam Butler, decorator for Kelly Company, will provide an area rug as a giveaway item.

A "Dash For The Cash" race will be held in which participants pull a standard harness horse training cart.
The contestants will compete for a $50 jackpot. A junior division will also be
eld for $50. The harness racing portion of the fair will conclude Wednesday, August 3.
"We wanted to find a way to enhance the addition of the Illinois Stallion Stakes to our racing program," said Rick Barbre, president of the White County Agricultural Society.
"The added giveaways and promotions will create an entire entertainment package for fans. It also gives us the opportunity to recognise our local sponsors that have contributed to the success of our fair."
Admission to the grandstand and parking will be free during all three days
f harness racing. Sponsors providing free grandstand admission include
tendeback Funeral Home, Emerick Brothers, Rice Motor Company, Williams
nterprises, Consolidated Grain and Barge, and Banterra Bank.
Additional sponsors providing free parking include Old National Bank, White County Coal, Pioneer Seed, Midland Agriculture, McLean Implement, Rural King, First Bank, and Campbell Funeral Home.
The White County Fair begins Saturday, July 30 and will conclude Saturday, August 6.
